CPR education has never been easier. At Save A Little Life, we have taken these life-saving skills and made them as user-friendly as can be. The staff instructors include experienced Registered Nurses and health educators who are highly skilled and can finally make these skills more understandable than ever. This course is focused on the needs of the care provider in a family setting and is very practical in its approach.
Richard Pass, RN and health educator has been in the field of CPR education for over 20 years. He has followed the science of CPR and has found some very simple ways to help students learn and feel confident in the very important area. We follow the basic “Family & Friends” approach as suggested by the American Heart Association. This course is based on the latest CPR science which tells us that the “simpler the better” when it comes to actual life saving techniques.
Each student will start with the “Save A Little Life” workbook and review the “Accident Prevention Checklist”, which details the most common areas of safety and prevention needed to safeguard infants & children. The course takes an honest look at where infants and children are at risk for serious health problems. We expertly identify those areas where care providers & parents need to focus to maintain a safe, incident-free, environment.
But what do we do if our best efforts at prevention fail, and someone is in need of emergency help? This is where the real difference in CPR classes is made. Our students will learn how to evaluate the sickest and most needy infants & children and to provide the emergency assistance they need until help arrives. Among the many things our students will learn is:
• The most effective way to contact 9-1-1 in a true emergency
• How to evaluate an infant or child who actually needs CPR
• The simple step-by-step approach to providing CPR
• Identification of and response to an airway obstruction (choking) in an infant or child
In addition, the Save A Little Life workbook and other handouts, provide an insight to how to respond to the more common household accidents. These include:
• Head injury
• Seizures
• Poisonings
• Burns…..and more!
The entire course is completed in just under three hours. Those who attend will receive, in the mail, a letter of course completion from Save A Little Life - identifying them has having met the requirements for learning. Save A Little Life offers these courses at various locations in Southern California and can, if arranged in advance, at your home, office or community center.
